Alantra, queen of the Azureef Kingdom, was often compared to an octopus. She personally found it cliché, and preferred the image of a giant spider.
She had her fins in everything. As royalty, that wasn't much surprising; but especially did she have involvement in the shadier dealings on the streets.
All for one reason: unlike her mother, she was not complacent. She wanted not to rule the kingdom, but to control it utterly.
And once she controlled her kingdom utterly, she would move on to the rest of the sea. And then the land.
And after that, she knew not. All she knew was that she would not stop.
